Family and friends are grieving the loss of two precious children from a fire in Rusk County Tuesday night (Nov. 7).

CBS19 reports that the children, identified by their mother as Matthew Wayne Stanley, 2, and RaeLynn Faith Stanley, 4, died at the hospital after rescuers found them in the home.

According to the Rusk County Sheriff's Office, the home on Highway 42 south was on fire when rescuers arrived and the father was attempting to go in and get the children. It took two tries to find the children who were hiding under a bed.

According to CBS19, the father was also taken to the hospital, treated and released.

The fire remains under investigation by the state marshal.
