Happy Ending for Little Girl Scammed by Man Using Country Star’s Name

Addie Roberts, a toddler diagnosed with Pre-B ALL Leukemia, is proof that good things can come out of tough situations. When her parents and a local business were scammed out of $9,000 meant for her medical bills, it was devastating. But after the rain, there’s a rainbow — and a pot of gold.

Country music fans will easily fall in love with the little girl — Addie is absolutely adorable. Her infectious grin and bubbly laughter make it easy to forget that she’s a cancer patient. While she may not be able to walk up and down the stairs as easily as before and her hair is mostly gone, Addie’s sunshine-filled demeanor gives the impression that she’s still loving life.

When news of the scam broke — in which a man, supposedly a family friend, promised the Roberts and venue Baxter’s 942 a benefit concert starring Jason Aldean — the family’s community pulled together.

Country’s own Gary Allan also stepped up to help raise money for the Roberts family by putting together a real benefit concert, which is scheduled for March 25. Then, as word spread, more and more people began giving to the family, trying to make up the deficit.

Just this week, the family learned that an anonymous donor stepped up and paid the entire $3,000 that their foundation, Addie’s Army, was scammed out of.

“Everything’s been just overwhelming from the community,” Addie’s mom states, adding that although it was an incredibly tough situation, “… so much more good has come from it.”

Allan’s benefit concert, which is in partnership with local country station Q-103.1 and Baxter’s 942, is still underway, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Roberts family. That means even more money can be put aside for adorable Addie’s medical expenses and the family can recover from the scam.
