American Idol Phillip Phillips Scheduled for Kidney Surgery [VIDEO]

Shortly after Phillip Phillips was crowned the new “American Idol” 2012 winner Wednesday night, it was learned he would soon have kidney surgery.

Apparently Phillip had battled severe and chronic kidney stones throughout the “American Idol” season. Phillip told Kelly Ripa on Live with Kelly he had been sick the entire time while on American Idol.

Doctors had tended to Phillip off and on during American Idol and even had to place a stent to temporarily fix the difficulty. He did not participate in any of the show's Ford music videos to give him time to rest.

WOW, Phillip really wanted the title of American Idol and he got it!
