A new trailer for The Angry Birds Movie gives fans a first look at Blake Shelton's character.

Shelton shared the 30-second clip on his social media accounts on Monday (April 25); press play above to watch. Fans have previously seen drawings of Earl, the country-fied pig that Shelton voices, but the new preview is the first chance to hear his voice -- which will be recognizable as Shelton's, but with a slightly thicker Southern accent.

“They kept saying, ‘More country!’" Shelton recalls. "I felt like I was doing a voice-over for Dukes of Hazzard.”

The teaser is set to Shelton's song "Friends," which he penned specifically for The Angry Birds Movie.

“I can write things about myself and my life,” Shelton reflects. “But I don’t have a whole lot of experience being shot out of a slingshot at pigs.”

The Angry Birds Movie — a combined effort between Sony Pictures and Rovio Entertainment, the developer of the film’s titular smartphone game, in which players sling birds at pigs — will act as “the origin story for how that conflict came to exist between birds and little green piggies,” producer John Cohen explains. Its soundtrack, on which “Friends” appears, is set for release on May 6 and is available for pre-order now via iTunes. The movie itself is scheduled to hit theaters on May 20 and will also feature the voices of Jason Sudeikis, Maya RudolphPeter Dinklage, Josh Gad, Danny McBride and more.

Also on May 20, Shelton will release a new album, If I'm Honest. "Friends," along with 14 other tracks, appears on that project.
