Tyler Police were called to the Varsity Place Apartments, an apartment complex that has been the scene of multiple crimes during the past several months.

Shortly before 2:30 a.m. Tuesday officers were called to the ETMC emergency room where a victim reported he was assaulted and robbed at his apartment by three masked gunmen.

The victim, identified as Dearis Davis, 21, who attends Tyler Junior College, told officers that he heard a knock at his door around 1:40 a.m.  Davis opened the door and observed three black males standing in his doorway. The suspects forced their way into the apartment and held him at gunpoint demanding his cash.

The suspects who had their faces covered with masks, struck Davis several times about his face and head with guns that resulted in serious bodily injury.  The suspects entered into his room-mate’s room and forced him and his girlfriend into the bathroom during the robbery.  The suspects stole an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the area on foot.

Anyone with information about the suspects involved in this crime are urged to contact the Tyler Police Department, at 903-531-1000, or Crimestoppers at 903-597-CUFF (903-597-2833).  Crimestoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and charges filed against the suspects in this case or any felony case.
