East Texas just grows talent! Think about it, Miranda LambertDon Henley, Lee Ann Womack, Neal MCoy, Linda Davis, JB and the Moonshine Band, Curtis Grimes, Brandon Rhyder, the legendary Ray Price (and I could go on forever) -- all from East Texas. Now you can add the latest sensation, Lauren Alexander, on the A-List. Born and raised in Bullard, Lauren has been singing in front of audiences since the age of 6. I remember watching Lauren performing at various festivals, fairs and events throughout East Texas for years. The last time saw her perform was at the "Pets In The Park" event at Bergfeld Park in Tyler for the Humane Society Of East Texas.

Lauren stopped by the studio a few weeks back with her guitarist, Richie Kindle (her cutie-pie boyfriend, too!), and she ain't that little girl anymore, but a beautiful, poised young woman who I found is determined, very polite and kind, and even soft spoken. She struck me as being sure of what she wants and who she is, rare for a 19-year-old.

When I asked about her music, she got the biggest grin on her face and giggled. I liked that. Not only is Lauren is a great guitarist and singer, but Lauren has the gift of writing songs. She spoke with me about meeting with successful writer Jim Collins from Nashville. Jim has written songs for Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean and Gretchen Wilson, just to name a few.

Here's my interview with Lauren!

Lauren is not beginner by any means. She has been on ABC, CBS and NBC - TV and performed at hundreds of venues. Lauren has had a band since the age of 11, and has opened for Pat Green, and lately JB and The Moonshine Band. When she was in Nashville with Jim Collins, she was even invited to play at a party hosted by Lee Brice!

Lauren knows so many artists make a record and hope it gets heard. Lauren says you have to take your music to the people. I'm glad she brought her music to us. I enjoyed our time together and can't wait for her third album!

Lauren Alexander sings her latest song she has written, "My Way," in the studio! Check it out and I'm sure you will agree -- she's got it!

Lauren also is in a contest with the Recording Conservatory of Austin's Unsigned Artist Competition. Go to this page on Facebook to find out how you can vote for Lauren. If she makes it into the top four, she'll get to play at Stubb's BBQ in Austin! So go vote!
