Trisha Yearwood is about to marry two of her longtime abilities: being in front of an audience and offering up delicious southern fare. The Grammy Award winning artist has already authored two bestselling cookbooks — ‘Cooking for Family and Friends’ and ‘Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen’ — and now she’s about to step into the spotlight with her own six-episode cooking show on the Food Network.
June of 2011 marked the beginning of seven-time Grammy Award-winner Randy Travis‘ 25th year in the music industry. To commemorate that silver anniversary, Travis released his ‘Anniversary Celebration‘ record with Warner Bros., and he’s just announced a 2012 North American tour to let fans in on the celebration.
When you think about TV highlights for this weekend, the first thing that undoubtedly comes to mind is the Super Bowl. But country fans everywhere can also look forward to Carrie Underwood‘s special episode of ‘CMT Crossroads.’
Rascal Flatts seem to have a finger on the pulse of a number of industries, and of late they’ve revealed that they have a documentary, restaurants and a fragrance all in the works. This all comes just a couple months after they announced the details of their upcoming clothing line. Oh yeah, and they’re dropping a new record in April — and touring that record — all while Jay DeMarcus is gearing up to be a father for the second time.
With February sweeps about to begin, Ellen DeGeneres is reportedly upping the ante for her daytime talk show, enticing her television audience with appearances from some of the biggest stars — from Christina Aguilera to First Lady Michelle Obama. One joint interview we’re especially excited about is her upcoming chat with Taylor Swift and Zac Efron, who will be talking about their Dr. Seuss film ‘The Lorax,’ which hits theaters on March 2.
Rascal Flatts hit the road with Sara Evans and Hunter Hayes this month for their Thaw Out Tour. Even with all the mayhem of being on the road, the guys in the band say they’re excited about 2012, as this tour is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all they’ve got on the docket for this year. The trio will drop their eighth studio album, ‘Changed,’ on April 3, before embarking on a summer tour.
With Lady Antebellum‘s Hillary Scott having tied the knot this month and Dave Haywood having proposed to his girlfriend in December, all three members of the trio are enjoying all the changes that come from leaving the single life behind. And, hey, now that marriage is figured out, why not start thinking about the next phase: a tour bus that can accommodate babies.

Appearing on the ‘Today’ show this morning because of their new film ‘Joyful Noise,’ Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah took the descriptor “cross-genre” just one step further. When host Ann Curry pointed out that hip-hop and country had an intersection in the two artists, Parton innocently said, “We never thought about that. We just thought it’d be rap stuff,” and then she jumped right into a rap with Latifah beat-boxing at her side.
At last year’s Grammy Awards, it seemed like every other “and the Grammy goes to …” was followed by the name of a country artist. With Miranda Lambert‘s ‘The House That Built Me’ doing well and Lady Antebellum‘s ‘Need You Now’ taking the cake in two major categories, it was a star-studded night for country fans everywhere.
