The holidays are a time of bustling around, hectic planning and the addition of last minute touches. Apparently the same is true for even the most spectacular events of the season. NBC just reported that Faith Hill has canceled her planned appearance on tonight’s ‘Christmas in Rockefeller Center’ NBC television special, which can expect about 250,000 live spectators and 11 million viewers.
Oklahoma native Vince Gill recently made a $12,000 donation to the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame to help finish construction on a new children’s music exhibit. Gill was inducted into that Hall of Fame in 1999, and now he’s challenging other musicians and music lovers to follow his lead and donate to the cause.
We’re not pulling for Brad Paisley to quit his day job, but the “Whiskey Lullaby” singer is shaping up to be quite the author. Paisley released his first book, ‘Diary of a Player,’ on Nov. 1, and the title has spent the past two weeks living on the New York Times Best Sellers list.
Country power trio Rascal Flatts made an appearance this morning on NBC’s ‘Today’ show as part of a superstar lineup leading up to Thanksgiving. The show was the first in this week’s Toyota Concert Series on the plaza at Rockefeller Center.
Each year for 10 years now, ‘AARP the Magazine’ has presented Inspire Awards to pay tribute to those forward thinkers and innovators who move others to action through their deep passion. This year, Toby Keith is among the 10 individuals receiving the prestigious award, and he’s joined by such legends as conservationist Jane Goodall and Steve Jobs.
Just 24 hours after the biggest night in country music, three country artists received big honors at the 2011 Billboard Touring Awards. Joining rock greats like U2 and Journey, country stars Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean and Taylor Swift received acclaim at the 8th annual awards, which were held at New York’s Roosevelt Hotel.
While we’ve been enjoying the newer names at the 2011 CMA Awards and reveling in awards like Best New Artist, there’s something comforting about a familiar face. Martina McBride was just that tonight as she offered up a smooth performance of her inspiring single ‘I’m Gonna Love You Through It’ from the central stage.
When Brad Paisley stepped out to announce Lady Antebellum‘s performance at the 2011 CMA Awards, he stepped out onto an empty stage. Looking around with mock bewilderment for his co-host, Paisley was met instead by a bedazzled Miss Piggy. The muppet worked her wiles only long enough for Carrie Underwood to emerge from backstage in an equally sparkling gown and accuse Miss P of locking her in her dressing room.
New footage from the 2011 CMA Awards rehearsals has emerged, featuring country’s top stars getting ready for Wednesday’s show. Spotlights ablaze, hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley warm up for their duet ‘Remind Me’ and Faith Hill prepares for the premiere of her long-awaited new single ‘Come Home’ in the video seen below.
