If there’s one country gal who’s not going to stand quietly while someone makes fun of her or her people, it’s East Texan Miranda Lambert. The sassy sweetheart didn’t seem to think Ashton Kutcher’s little “performance,” nor his over-the-top country getup at Sunday night’s ACM Awards was too cute.
Jason Aldean released his fourth studio album, ‘My Kinda Party,’ in November of 2010, and since then he’s seen his career skyrocket as his singles climb the charts with a ferocity and his My Kinda Party Tour continues to sell out faster than tickets can go on sale. In an interview backstage at Sunday’s (April 1) ACM Awards, Aldean told reporters that he’s finished with his fifth studio album and ready to release the first single to the world this summer.
Miranda Lambert and Chris Young sat down at the table with the ladies of CBS’ ‘The Talk’ on Thursday morning, and Lambert decided to offer up a little nugget of trivia about the 26-year-old country crooner joining her on the show. “I have a secret that I know,” she began, pausing. “About him — but you’re not going to expect what I’m about to say.”
The verdict is in for People Country’s hottest guy, and the top cowboy stud of the year just so happens to be now widely-loved ‘The Voice‘ celebrity coach and country star Blake Shelton. The Oklahoma native is (not surprisingly) quite “aww shucks” about the whole thing, telling the magazine, ”I think it’s funny because there is nothing about me, if I was a girl, that I would think is sexy” (quotes via the Boot). But country ladies everywhere seem to disagree.
Kenny Chesney hasn’t put out a new album since his Sept. 2010 release ‘Hemingway’s Whiskey,’ which resulted in four No. 1 singles and went platinum. Now, he is gearing up for another release — his 13th studio album — which is set to come out June 19 on BNA Records. The ‘You and Tequila‘ singer just announced today (March 29) that the moniker for his new record will be ‘Welcome to the Fishbowl.’
If anyone understands what it’s like to be under the intense heat of the ‘American Idol‘ spotlights and the critical eye of the show’s judges, it’s Carrie Underwood. The Season 4 ‘Idol’ winner apparently hasn’t forgotten the pressure that comes from taking that stage under the scrutiny of fans and judges alike, and she took the time to reach out to 18-year-old British-born Hollie Cavanagh, the tiny talent with a huge voice who’s currently vying to be the next American Idol.
Only 9 ‘American Idol‘ contestants are left vying for the top spot in America’s hearts, and this week country rocker Skylar Laine showed her sass with a rendition of Miranda Lambert‘s revenge hit ‘Gunpowder & Lead.’ Each contestant got to pick a song from their real-life idol to perform this week, and the little country songstress says Lambert is it for her.
You may know that Kenny Chesney makes an appearance with a host of country stars on Lionel Richie’s ‘Tuskegee‘ new country duets record, but do you know exactly how the ‘You and Tequila’ singer actually landed his spot on the album? While the two stars are good friends who each seem to really respect one another’s work, this collaboration actually began with a drunk dial.
While you expect a great variety of performances at the ACM Awards, there’s one special occurrence you’d never anticipate seeing on the ACM stage: a wedding. Well, prepare to have your expectations blown away this year! Martina McBride and Train frontman Pat Monahan are due to perform McBride’s latest single ‘Marry Me‘ while a couple actually gets married on stage.
She was one of the last holdouts on the 140-character social networking site, but even though Carrie Underwood finally joined Twitter about a month ago, she admits she’s still a little hesitant about it. From the moment she first tweeted “Hello Twitter World!” on Feb. 24, Underwood has used the site primarily to talk about the progress of her upcoming album ‘Blown Away,’ her most recent single ‘Good Girl,’ her surprise ’80s birthday party and the occasional post featuring her dogs or hockey playing husband Mike Fisher. But the songstress says the Twitterverse is not a place where she’s going to get too personal.
If there’s one thing ‘American Idol‘ seems to love as much as discovering the newest talent, it’s inviting their alums back for a moment in the spotlight. It’s always so incredible to how performers who were once anxious hopefuls develop into such poised, self-assured stars in no time. Next week, the past ‘Idol’ winner who will be coming back to show off how he’s changed in a year is Scotty McCreery, and he’ll be joined by rap princess Nicki Minaj.
On Wednesday, Texas native and 2010 ‘American Idol‘ finalist Casey James made an appearance on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ to perform the lead single from his self-titled debut, which just dropped March 20. Performing ‘Let’s Don’t Call It a Night’ for the studio and television audiences, James seemed quite relaxed and natural wielding his electric guitar with his band.
