In the wake of the March 2 storms that resulted in a spinoff of destructive tornadoes, artists in the country music community are doing what they can to help people get back into their homes and back on their feet. For her part, East Texas native Miranda Lambert just announced that she’ll be donating 100 percent of the proceeds from remaining ticket sales of her Louisville, Ky. concert to the American Red Cross.
Blake Shelton and his touring crew took their show to Key Arena in Seattle, Wash. this weekend. And while Shelton has had a few guests with him on this Well Lit & Amplified Tour — he’s traveling with ‘The Voice‘ finalist Dia Frampton and Justin Moore — Friday night (March 9) he invited another famous country star onto the stage with him: his wife.
When you think of the folksy Americana duo the Civil Wars and the highly anticipated film ‘The Hunger Games,’ your mind likely jumps first to the Civil Wars’ popular Taylor Swift collaboration ‘Safe & Sound,’ which was the lead single from the soundtrack. But the duo has another song on the compilation, and this time it’s one they wrote on their own. You can preview the clip below.
It’s nothing new to hear of a country star bringing a special guest onstage to help with a song — in fact, it happens all the time. But sometimes said stars pull adorable little girls out of the audience to help them finish out their set at the Opry, and that’s an entirely different story. At his sold-out Grand Ole Opry show on Friday (March 9), Keith Urban did just that, adding a giant dose of adorable to the end of his performance.
Today, the Academy of Country Music announced an additional star-studded lineup of performers for the 47th annual Academy of Country Music Awards, which will take place the evening of Sunday, April 1. Included in the newly-unrolled cast of country greats are Blake Shelton, Lady Antebellum, Chris Young, the Band Perry and Rascal Flatts. Arguably one of the biggest nights in country music, second only to the CMAs, the awards show will be broadcast live from Las Vegas’ MGM Grand.
Since November, Rodney Atkins has been embroiled in a bitter marital dispute that is in the process of ending in a divorce. The country singer was arrested Nov. 21 after his wife called 911 accusing her husband of trying to smother her with a pillow, among other things. The ‘Take a Back Road’ singer was taken into custody and then released on a $2,500 bail and in February was acquitted from the charges.
Brad Paisley just wrapped the most recent leg of his Virtual Reality Tour on Saturday (March 3) in Lexington, Ky., and from the looks of it, the ‘Remind Me’ singer is not planning on pausing for any amount of time. This week, Paisley announced he’ll be continuing his tour with the two openers who he took on the road for the first part — the Band Perry and Scotty McCreery. Plus, Easton Corbin will be joining for certain shows.
Though Blake Shelton and Lindale's own Miranda Lambert have become quite the ‘it couple’ in and beyond the realm of country music, the two agree that they’re not planning for kids anytime soon. In a recent interview with US Weekly, Shelton explained that while they will be ringing in their first anniversary in May, they’re content to put off that next step for just a little while longer.
More than 20 years ago, in March of 1991, Reba McEntire experienced a tragedy that will stay with her for the rest of her life. On Sunday night, the country star opened up on the OWN show ‘Oprah’s Master Class’ about the tragic plane crash that took the lives of seven of her band members, as well as her tour manager and two pilots.
Country artist Matt Stillwell experienced a taste of last week’s devastating tornadoes, though thankfully, he was nowhere in the area. Stillwell, a Nashville-based artist who is signed to Average Joe’s Entertainment, lost his tour bus in the devastating March 2 storms, which ripped through much of east Kentucky on Friday.
Perhaps it was Taylor Swift‘s recent ‘Vogue’ cover that inspired the editors of the Australian edition of Harper’s Bazaar to put the glamorous ‘it girl’ on the front of their April issue. Whatever the inspiration, Swift can be seen on the cover in a black and gold shimmering Gucci dress — priced at $10,000 — that nods to the ’80s with its bold, almost geometric pattern, but is more reminiscent of a swanky flapper dress from the ’20s.
Suspicion is running high on Brad Paisley‘s tour with Scotty McCreery and the Band Perry. After McCreery pranked Paisley last Saturday night (Feb. 25) at their Springfield, Mo. show, the young singer started watching his back more than normal. And, with only today and tomorrow (March 3) left in their run together, McCreery must just be itching to see if Paisley’s going to retaliate.
