If you’re having a particularly difficult time choosing your prom theme for this year — the Vegas theme is a little tired and you’re tired of standing by a cardboard miniature of the Eiffel Tower — Lady Antebellum are offering up a pretty compelling alternative. The country trio would like to suggest a different option, and they’re even willing to come help you pull it off. How about an ‘Own the Night’-themed prom?
At the beginning of last year, news sources started reporting that Shania Twain was going the Celine Dion route and planning for a residency show on the Las Vegas strip. Now, more than a year later, the ‘Any Man of Mine’ singer is in pre-production for the show, according to CBS Las Vegas.
Jason Aldean might sport a cowboy hat most of the time, but in the occasional behind-the-scenes video we’ll see him looking like the all-American guy in a baseball cap, a T-shirt and jeans. Recently, Aldean took it a big step further, stepping out of the world of pearl snaps, snakeskins and belt buckles to don a uniform of a different kind: an Atlanta Braves baseball uniform, complete with cleats and all.
Tuesday night, Kenny Chesney took the stage on ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’ for the first time ever, but rather than bringing one of his own hits, he performed Bruce Springsteen‘s ‘I’m on Fire.’ The cover was part of a week-long tribute to the Boss in honor of his forthcoming record ‘Wrecking Ball,’ which drops March 6.
Lauren Alaina will once again hit the ‘American Idol‘ stage where her dreams of country stardom first came into focus. Alaina is joining other past ‘Idol’ contestants-turned-celebrities who will perform on an upcoming episode in Season 11. Others taking the iconic stage soon are Chris Daughtry, Adam Lambert and James Durbin.
Carrie Underwood just released the first single from her new record on Thursday (Feb. 23), debuting the song ‘Good Girl‘ at the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville and through iTunes. The next day, Underwood performed at a 2012 Oscars launch party in Beverly Hills, where she offered up a killer acoustic version of the song with a live band, which you can see in the clip below.
Luke Bryan has been on the road with Jason Aldean as of late, and recently, the pair hit Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, where Bryan took a creative turn by sitting down at a piano to cover Brit pop songstress Adele‘s ‘Someone Like You.’ Take a look at the video below and you’ll notice that the audience was pretty keen on the ‘Country Girl (Shake It for Me)’ singer’s choice of an unconventional cover song.
Yesterday (Feb. 23), Clint Black, Bill Anderson and Bob DiPiero walked away from a bus accident they were involved in while traveling in Dublin, Ireland. The three renowned singer-songwriters are currently touring Ireland and the UK with the CMA Songwriter Series. While traveling in their Gibson Guitars bus, the trio was rear-ended by a passenger car.
Yesterday (Feb. 23) we reported that Taylor Swift had received a prom invitation from New Jersey high school senior Kevin McGuire, who is currently battling cancer for the second time. On McGuire’s Facebook event page, which now has hundreds of thousands of fans, the teen’s older sister put out a plea asking the beautiful young starlet to take her brother to his high school prom, which coincidentally falls on his birthday. Since then, we’ve all been waiting eagerly to see if and when and how Swift would respond. That wait has finally ended.
After a long and dramatic saga at the end of last year, country singer Mindy McCready was discovered in a closet in Arkansas with her son Zander. McCready had taken the 5-year-old from his Florida home, where he lived with McCready’s mother, his legal guardian. Zander was placed in foster care after the pair were found, and now a court has decided that he will stay in foster care in Arkansas — even though the case is being decided in Florida.
At the Universal Music Group label luncheon show at Nashville’s Country Radio Seminar Wednesday (Feb. 22), George Strait surprised the Ryman audience with his guest appearance — but fellow star Vince Gill had a surprise of his own. Before launching into his song ‘The Red Words,’ the ‘Threaten Me With Heaven’ singer told the audience, which was full of radio personnel, that he was performing that day as a thank you to radio, since he is no longer an MCA recording artist (part of UMG).
Who doesn’t love going to a great concert and then getting surprised by another great performer, who joins the one you’re there to see? What about two additional unexpected performers? Well, Lady Antebellum‘s crowd got to experience just that last night (Feb. 22) at the trio’s sold-out show at Nashville’s Municipal Auditorium.
