While she wasn’t in the final running to become the winner of ‘American Idol‘ this season, Skylar Laine still got to perform on the big finale tonight (May 23). Oh, and did we mention Reba McEntire was there, too? Laine rocked the ‘Idol’ stage for one last time alongside McEntire, performing the country superstar’s hit single ‘Turn On the Radio.’
Tonight at the 2012 ACM Awards, there were a few standout country stars, like Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood, whose attire really blew us away. These are our picks of the Best Dressed pictures from the show, which was held at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. Scroll through the photos to see the most fashionable musicians who hit the red carpet at the 2012 ACM Awards.
Big congrats to Taylor Swift! The country cutie was crowned Entertainer of the Year at the 2012 ACM Awards, marking her second consecutive win of the prestigious fan-voted award. Although she was the youngest nominee in the category, going up against country vets Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley and Blake Shelton, Swift managed to get the most fan votes to win Entertainer of the Year once again.
Fresh off her win for Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2012 ACM Awards, Miranda Lambert had to switch from a celebratory mood to a much more somber tone as she readied herself to perform ‘Over You’ for the crowd gathered at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. If you’re a fan of Lambert, you already know that this song has a very personal meaning to the songstress and her husband, Blake Shelton.
Tonight has been a great night for country crooner Jason Aldean and his pop counterpart Kelly Clarkson! Following their win for Vocal Event of the Year, Aldean and Clarkson took home yet another trophy at the 2012 ACM Awards for ‘Don’t You Wanna Stay’ when they snagged the award for Single Record of the Year.
Jason Aldean was just one of the many performers taking the stage at the 2012 ACM Awards on April 1, and the country rocker performed his latest single off of ‘My Kinda Party,’ the midtempo anthemic track, ‘Fly Over States.’ As usual, Aldean, who won the ACM award for Vocal Event of the Year earlier for his collaboration with Kelly Clarkson, ‘Don’t You Wanna Stay,’ gave a great performance with his backing band.
Miranda Lambert had some stiff competition at the 2012 ACM Awards, but that didn’t stop the fiery country songstress from taking the Album of the Year award at this year’s show in Las Vegas. Lambert won the distinction for her chart-topping 2011 album, ‘Four the Record,’ which boasts singles such as ‘Baggage Claim’ and ‘Over You.’
Tonight at the 2012 ACM Awards, Keith Urban offered a touching tribute to active U.S. troops and fallen soldiers with a performance of ‘For You.’ Urban’s ‘For You’ appears on the soundtrack to the film ‘Act of Valor,’ and during his performance, his amazing lyrics and superior musicianship really left an impression and made us feel for all of the soldiers on the front lines.
Congratulations, Danny Gokey! During a recent interview with FOX News — on which the ‘American Idol’ alum appeared to discuss his charity efforts through his organization Sophia’s Heart — Gokey was overjoyed while talking about his engagement to girlfriend Leyicet Peralta.
The Band Perry are still soaking in the success of their No. 1 hit ‘If I Die Young,’ but that doesn’t mean the trio are showing any signs of slowing down. Kimberly Perry recently caught up with Billboard for a Q&A session, and even though they’ve been busy winning CMA Awards for their chart-topping song, the vocalist said she and her brothers are in full-blown writing mode for album No. 2.
Up until recently, Taylor Swift fans could only snag bonus tracks from ‘Speak Now’ if they bought the deluxe version of the album at their nearest Target store. However, Ms. Swift does not want to deprive her tech savvy fans of these songs for any longer, so the 21-year-old songstress has released the bonus tracks to iTunes.
