Police Searching For Hit And Run Driver [VIDEO]
Last night shortly after 9pm a four year old child was struck and killed by a hit and run diver. The accident happened on Highway 49 and Younger Road south of Lakeport in the Easton community in southern Gregg County. More after the jump.

Emergency Alert System Test Happening Today
This is a test – only a test.
Today at 1pm a thirty second test will air on every single radio and television station in the country. This test is being conducted by the Federal Communications Commission and Federal Emergency Management Agency. They are holding this first ever national test of the 17 year old emergency notification system. More after the jump.

Rangers Making Renovations To Ballpark
The Texas Rangers are busy making renovations to Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The $11.5 million project will be completed in time for fans to enjoy it for the 2012 season. The area under renovation is in center-field and includes the bleacher seats and basically everything in Vandergriff Plaza. More after the jump.

PATH Seeking More ‘Coats For Kids’
PATH’s annual Coats for Kids drive started October 1st and continues until the 31st. Each October PATH holds this special drive to collect winter coats for children ages infant through 18 years old. PATH is hoping to collect 2,000 coats for distribution in November. More after the jump.

Several other smaller communities across East Texas have already done it, and now bigger cities like the City of Tyler are asking for voluntary step one drought contingency measures. With the recent news reports that the drought will last several more months, if not years, these measures are a good way to conserve water before mandatory restrictions are needed.
