Over the past 25 years the annual Hole In One competition has raised more than a million dollars for endowed scholarship programs at UT Tyler. Students have benefited directly from the competition that could be giving away $1 million itself on Sunday, May 20, at Hollytree Country Club! Qualifying began Saturday at the UT Tyler Herrington Patriot Center and continues through 11 p.m. Friday.
I just got chill bumps after watching this video. It is set in the Seattle Children’s Hospital and features kids that have some form of cancer lip-syncing to Kelly Clarkson‘s “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)”.
Thousands of people from around East Texas will be descending upon Bergfeld Park Saturday morning for the annual Komen Tyler Race For The Cure. All of these people have one mission in common, to help find a cure for breast cancer. Plus, they all have a different reason for participating too, whether it’s in the 5k run/walk, 50 yard kid’s dash or the 1 mile fun run/walk, they’re doing it for something. Memory of a loved one who was lost to breast cancer, a survivor, to better their own health – everyone has a reason.
It’s prom season here in East Texas, and high school juniors and seniors have been busy planning the evening. And more importantly for the girls, they’re searching for the perfect dress. Everything has to be perfect for the young lady attending the prom right down to her accessories. Yesterday, we posted a story online highlighting six of the wackiest prom dresses. One of the dresses really caught my attention — not necessarily the dress, but the situation around it.
I have noticed over the past few days that gas prices have been on the decline instead of skyrocketing. We always hear about the rise in gas prices but rarely about the decline, and that’s what I’m excited about today!
More than 80 different businesses in Longview will all be assembled under one roof and they all have a few goals in mind: to meet you, tell you about themselves and to meet other business owners. The Longview Business Expo will be happening from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 1at the Maude Cobb Activity Center in Longview.
Whether you’re due a refund or you gotta pay Uncle Sam, your federal taxes will need to be postmarked by midnight Tuesday, April 17. From past experiences, I’ve learned that if people are expecting a refund they’ll get their taxes done just as soon as that W-2 arrives in the mail, but those thinking they’ll have to pay a little or a lot will wait until the deadline to file that tax return (which I don’t blame them!).
I was listening to Kidd Kraddick in the Morning this morning and they were playing clips of videos that have recently received a lot of attention and are on the verge of going viral. One of them features Sweet Brown from Oklahoma City.
Every child deserves the opportunity to earn a medal in competition no matter if they have limitations or not. On Friday morning, Longview ISD will hold the 2012 Special Education Track & Field Day at Lobo Stadium.
If you’re looking to sample a variety of tastes from Longview area restaurants, I have the perfect event for you to attend then – the Taste Of Longview. Dozens of restaurants will converge upon the Maude Cobb Convention Center Tuesday evening for the annual event beginning at 7p.
