Almost everyone at some point has seen a movie and wanted to know if they could do things they saw the hero do. However, people taking the Bird Box challenge are going to extremes, and Netflix recently issued a warning. "Can't believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE," the company tweeted. Their wish for viewers was, "that you do not end up in the hospital due to memes."

In Case You Missed It

Bird Box is a post-apocalyptic thriller starring Sandra Bullock. Mysterious forces have taken over the planet. When humans see the movie's dangerous monsters, it makes them either commit suicide or go crazy. Sandra Bullock has two children she must get to safety while all three of them are blindfolded.

What's The Bird Box Challenge?

In the Bird Box Challenge, people do everyday tasks or attempt the extreme while blindfolded. Then, of course, they post images and video to social media. Some of the people challenge themselves to stay blindfolded for 24 hours, and the most insane videos have gone viral.

Dumb Things People Have Tried -- And Posted

Some challenges are fun, some are silly and a few are dangerous. In 2018 the Tide Pod Challenge involved trying to swallow detergent pods, and the hot water challenge had people pouring boiling water on themselves or someone else, or trying to drink the boiling liquid. Some of the Bird Box Challenge videos show people doing things that are just as dangerous.

In one video, a group walks around the busy streets of New York City wearing blindfolds. One man decides to run and falls down the stairs of the subway. A father attempted to follow in Sandra Bullock's footsteps and blindfolded himself and his children for the challenge. In the video, he instructs them to run and accidentally flings his baby into a wall. Participants try to drive their cars, ride a bicycle, walk around bodies of water and run through the woods. Often the hope is the more extreme their activity, the more views they will receive.

Some humans don't have to actually see mysterious monsters before they do something stupid.
