Blues icon B.B. King passed away Thursday evening (May 14th) at the age of 89 while in hospice care in Las Vegas. B.B. King was known as the "King of Blues" and had been battling diabetes for nearly 30 years and was recently hospitalized for dehydration and entered into hospice care May 1st.

B.B. King got his start as a singer at a Memphis radio station under his nickname Beale Street Blues Boy which was eventually cut down to B.B.! Considered an influence on many of the great guitarists, B.B. King's style can be heard through Eric Clapton, Keith Richards and Jimi Hendrix's playing and more. King produced more than 50 albums throughout his career, was a member of the Blues Hall of Fame and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. He also earned 15 Grammy Awards and sold millions of albums worldwide.

At this time, no memorial or funeral details have been announced. One of the blues' well-know and well-loved stars will be greatly missed.
