Beto O’Rourke, the charismatic congressman from El Paso, Texas who came very close to knocking off incumbent Ted Cruz for the U.S. Senate is keeping his options open when deciding to run for president in 2020.

According to Star Telegram, O’Rourke was holding a town hall meeting when the question about a potential presidential run in 2020.  He said spending time with his family is what’s important and to finish his term in January 2019 before me makes any other future decisions.

The best advice I received from people who’ve run for, and won — and run for, and lost — elections like this, is: Don’t make any decisions about anything until you’ve had some time to hang with your family and just be human. And so I am following that advice.

O’Rourke said during his final weeks in office he is going to focus on the immigration crisis currently going on as tear gas was fired upon asylum seekers Sunday afternoon.

I had actually met O’Rourke in Tyler during a campaign run and he has the charisma and personality of a former U.S. President and if he decides to throw his name in the ring for the Democratic nomination it could get real interesting come 2019.

Only time will tell.
