The National Weather Service has named Tyler's Broadway Square Mall "StormReady".

Shreveport National Service Senior Meteorologist  Jason Hansford says that being StormReady requires having a plan of action for severe weather.

That plan includes:

  • Being able to receive warning information
  • Being able to relay warning information to customers
  • Severe weather response plan
  • Area for shelter
  • Being able to perform severe weather drills, activities or other practices

Jason Hansford said, "Having a preparedness plan in place like the mall does, it gives a peace of mind to the customers coming to shop on any given day. And they…are here to protect them in times of hazardous weather."
