Cam Dreams About a ‘Burning House’ at 2016 ACM Awards

Cam brought her unusual sense of style and strong vocals to the stage at the 2016 ACM Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday night (April 3).

The singer sang her breakout hit, "Burning House," in an emotional performance that underscored everything that's special about her. Clad in her signature yellow, she gave a vocal performance that struck the perfect balance between emotion and technical precision, surrounded by a subtle, yet powerful arrangement that included gentle backing vocals, strings and nylon string acoustic guitar for a sound unlike any other performance on the broadcast.

The assembled audience of some of the top pros in the industry rewarded the performance with a standing ovation.

The 31-year-old singer-songwriter has charted one of the fastest rises to stardom in recent country music history. She released her debut album, Untamed, in December of 2015, and by the time it came out, its second single, the haunting "Burning House," had already broken through at country radio, fueled by some unexpected exposure on the Bobby Bones syndicated radio show. The song ultimately reached No. 2, and has been certified Platinum.

The follow-up single, "Mayday" is currently in release. Cam seems well on her way to stardom, with an appearance at the prestigious CRS New Faces of Country Music in February and a slew of TV appearances. She's also a nominee at the 2016 ACM Awards; the California-born singer is up for New Female Vocalist, Single Record, Video and Song of the Year.
