It’s a big problem here in East Texas and the SPCA of East Texas is doing their best to find homes for a lot of homeless animals here in Smith County and all over East Texas. Coming up Saturday, August 18th there’s a great way you can help out the SPCA of East Texas and have some family fun at the same time.
August 7, 2012 When watching football players on TV, they can come across as big, mean, and scary. And in some cases they are just that. But sometimes they surprise you. Sometimes they're just big teddy bears and the littlest and sweetest things melt their hearts.
It’s the beginning of August which means school is just a couple weeks away. Now is the perfect time to take your kids school supply shopping for the upcoming school year.
Last night I was watching World News with Diane Sawyer on ABC and near the end of the show they featured a story about brothers. It wasn’t an ordinary story either, it made an impact on me and got me to thinking about all the kids that are affected by a chronic or terminal illness and the charities that I and Mix 93-1 support each year, like Children’s Miracle Network and Kidd’s Kids.
July 25, 2012 As many of you know, I'm not a great cook. Well to be honest, I'm not a cook at all. I haven't kept this a secret. I never learned, and I never really wanted to. But it's odd, because my mother is an excellent cook, and her mother was such a great cook that she makes Paula Deen look like an amateur.
Michael Vick appeared on Piers Morgan last night, expressed that he wants to get a puppy for his kids. The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback was banned from owning any dog for at least three years, as terms of his sentencing for the dog fighting charges.

July 13, 2012 I have a question for you guys, time-out or spankings? When I was a kid, there wasn't time-out, there was only spankings! Then when I became a teenager there were still spankings but grounding was a way of punishment too.

A couple in France took the saying "first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby in the baby carriage" to a new extreme over the weekend. While they may have taken their time with the love then marriage part, they wasted absolutely no time on the marriage then baby part. In fact, they only waited about 20 minutes. The bride gave birth to their baby at the wedding.
A business called Uni K, which operates “waxing centers” in New York and Florida, is running a promotion for the month of July where girls 15 and younger can experience their first “waxing” at 50% off! This means some girls as young as eight could be getting their first “wax.” Is this too young?
July 5, 2012 After living in East Texas my entire life, I kind of have a been-there, done-that attitude. It seems like there is nothing new or exciting for me to do that I haven't already experienced. So, I did some research to see what exciting things East Texas holds that I may not know about, and what I found shocked me.
