He's a native of East Texas, but has seen his musical success in the Texas Music scene grow out of the western side of the Lone Star State. Which makes sense, seeing how that's where he started his band after graduating from Texas Tech. But now William Clark Green, the reigning TRRMA New Male Vocalist of the Year, is growing too big for just the city of Lubbock, and he stopped by Radio Texas, LIVE! last week to prove it.
With that trademark tenor and vibrato combo, East Texas native Brandon Rhyder has one of the most recognizable voices in Texas. And this week we've got one of his signature songs for your RTX Sunday Video, "Freeze Frame Time."
Turnpike Troubadours spent one week at No. 1 before vacating it to make way for JB and the Moonshine Band. These young bands are proving to be two of the top new bands in Texas and Oklahoma. Last year Turnpike Troubadours beat out JB and the Moonshine Band for Best New Band at The Texas Regional Radio Music Awards. And now they are duke-ing it out for radio play. It appears the future of Texas and Red Dirt Music is in good hands.
Granger Smith and I go back a few years, in fact I recall messaging him on Myspace to set up an in-studio visit (is it called messaging on Myspace?) The multifaceted Granger is a musician first, and a video maker second. This, despite the fact he has uploaded many more videos to YouTube than released singles to radio.
