2014 was a good year in Texas Music. We got great new albums from Cody Johnson, Sunny Sweeney, Stoney LaRue and Wade Bowen. Reckless Kelly won a Grammy, and a few bands took big steps forward in the collective conscience of all Texas Music lovers including: Curtis Grimes, Sam Riggs and William Clark Green.

In November we teamed up with Cavender's to giveaway an all-expenses-paid trip to Steamboat Springs for MusicFest2015, a festival that has become THE Texas and Red Dirt festival everyone who is anyone goes to (except me, I've never been).

Ganger Smith's wife Amber is no stranger to his music videos, in fact the two met on the set of one. But in his latest Bury Me in Blue Jeans, the entire Smith clan steps out, in front of the camera.

Some singers don't have to wait long at all to get on TV. In fact, these days it seems many even begin their careers under the national television lights. Others have to wait five decades. The latter is the case for country / outlaw singer / songwriter Billy Joe Shaver. But Shaver's wait ends tonight.

Say what you want (Lord knows Natalie Maines does), but the Dixie Chicks are one of the best bands of-all-time; and may be the best female band ever. Country or not. And everyone loves 'em some Robert Earl Keen. Today the Wall Street Journal posted a new duet from former Dixie Chick, Natalie Maines and Keen, called Wayfaring Stranger.

If the success of the debut single is any indication of how the rest of his next album will be received, all is good for Aaron Watson and his 2015 project The Underdog.

Today, Ray Wylie Hubbard and his beautiful wife, Judy, posted the chords on YouTube to one of his biggest songs. I can't find the original post on Facebook, but from what I recall, a kid sent Hubbard an email asking if the legendary singer/songwriter would share, with him, the chords to Snake Farm. Mr. "Screw You We're from Texas," did him one better.

William Clark Green's album Ringlin' Road won't be out till February of 2015, but the first single from it is already blasting up the Texas charts. Today Green released the lyric video for the song.

We all love Christmas music, well, to an extent. Jack Ingram has teamed up with HEB to give fans free sounds of the season, but that's not all.

Zane Williams is the latest in the proud Texas tradition to croon about our great state, and he does it oh so well. With his new lyric video, the Abilene native puts his fans center-stage on Texas Like That.

Today the Dirty River Boys posted a rather cryptic message to fans on Facebook. They didn't offer up any details, i.e. which song, what part of the episode (beginning, middle, end), if they'll be being a covered, except "you may hear a little bit of yours truly on tonight's episode." My DVR already records this guilty pleasure, for me. I'll post a clip once I find it.

Whether through his music, in interviews or on the stage; Aaron Watson has never been one to shy away from sharing his personal life with his fans. And with his 12th album, The Underdog, it looks like fans can expect much of the same.
