I had the pleasure of speaking with Charlie Robison a couple weeks ago and if it weren't for guys like him, Pat Green, Robert Earl Keen and Cory Morrow this whole sub-genre of bad-ass music we enjoy today in Texas probably wouldn't exist. At least not to the extent that it is. Charlie and I hit on many topics including Party in the Dirt presented by KNUE.

A while back Curtis Grimes stopped by the big show, we ended up making a bet over whether or not David Allan Coe would make a certain gesture to the crowd at Party in the Dirt. In this first segment I let Charlie in on the action.

It's been three years since the last Charlie Robison album, in this next segment he gives us the scoop on new music and I offer up a lesson in Texas Music history. Take notes, there will be a quiz.

It was over 10 years ago when Charlie performed on one of my favorite late night television shows of all time. Next, he tells us about the experience.

The one thing I love about introducing Charlie Robison, besides I'm in for a great night of music, is the height of his microphone. I'm a pretty tall dude, Charlie's a tall dude, makes for a smooth transition from introduction to performance.

Don't miss Party in the Dirt 2012 presented by KNUE, goin' down this Saturday! Click here to buy your tickets now. I'll leave you with Charlie's performance on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, enjoy!
