The Tyler City Council on Tuesday passed three ordinances regulating store locations of where beer and wine will be sold.

One ordinance states stores that sale alcohol must be at least 300 feet from any church, school, daycare centers, and hospitals.

A second ordinance calls for beer barns or drive-thru stores to be located in M-2 General Industrial districts.

Signage promoting beer and wine sales came under a separate ordinance allowing businesses only one sign and two if the business is located on a corner.

Voters in Tyler and Smith County JP 2 recently overwhelmingly passed two propositions to allow the sale of beer and wine and sales of mixed beverages in restaurants by food and beverage certificate holders only.

The Tyler City Council will canvass the votes at their next meeting.
