It is the law in the State of Texas, if you are in a vehicle, no matter what seat you're in, you must wear a seat belt or face getting a ticket from law enforcement. Tyler police and other departments and agencies around the state are hyper focusing on seat belt violators and you could be stopped and fined for not complying.

Children younger than eight years old and less than four feet nine inches tall must by properly restrained in a belted child safety seat. If you are the driver and there are violators in the car, not only can they be fined for not wearing a seat belt so can you.

Fines relating to not wearing seat belts or having your children properly secured in a child safety seat can set you back $25 to $200 in addition to court costs.
