Cole Swindell made his Opry debut on March 26, 2016, but before he stepped onto the iconic circle, he recorded a special acoustic version of his emotional hit “You Should Be Here” backstage in the Opry Lounge.

The video features Swindell and two acoustic players seated on stools for the intimate performance, which Swindell begins with a sincere approach, closing his eyes and singing with conviction. He's said the song, though not originally written specifically about the topic, reflects his feelings about losing his father. It’s evident he feels those same emotions every time he performs the tune, including here, which provided an even more sentimental ambience. The performance shows off Swindell’s true vocal talent, as he sings each note with care.

"You Should Be Here" is Swindell’s most recent single and the title track from his upcoming sophomore record. It quickly became a No. 1 hit, which the artist found out while backstage at the Opry on the same date as the above performance. It’s created high expectations for the second album, which is slated to feature a collaboration with Dierks Bentley called "Flatliner."

"I originally wrote it for Dierks four years ago, trying to get him to record it and now we’re singing it together," Swindell said of the tune. "It’s amazing."

You Should Be Here is set to be released May 6 and will also include '90s country-inspired tune called “Broke Down" and one titled “Middle of a Memory,” sparked by a previously released song, “Kiss."
