TLC has always done a good job of giving us a peak at the lives of people who are different than us. They took us into the lives of a family with 19 children, the lives of pageant families, the lives of little people, and more. Now they’re taking us into the lives of two teen girls with a health defect that shocked the world.

Abby and Brittany Hensel are both normal 22 year old women. They love sports and friends, dating, and both are attending college. But their normal isnt the same normal as other women. The two were born as conjoined twins. They share a body, but each have their own head. They are highly symmetric, giving the appearance of having just a single body with little variation from normal proportion. In fact, several vital organs are doubled up, each twin having a separate heart, stomach, spine and spinal cord. While Brittany controls the right side of the body, Abby steers the left.

Their new show on TLC appropriately titled “Abby & Brittany” will give us a look at what their daily lives are like. We will get to see the struggles and accomplishments and what the girls go through as they prepare to graduate college and pursue their post-grad degrees, as well as take us on a trip through Europe. “Abby & Brittany” premieres on August 28 at 10/9 central on TLC.
