Singer-songwriter Crystal Yates brings her effortlessly powerful vocals to readers of The Boot with this exclusive premiere of her new song "Already Yours." The track is from her forthcoming album The Other Side.

Yates' vocals are absolutely the star of the show in "Already Yours." The song is bluesy and soulful, and brings to mind artists such as Whitney Houston, Etta James and Aretha Franklin -- which is exactly what Yates was going for.

""Already Yours" is a nod to my soulful influences like Etta James, Aretha Franklin and Percy Sledge," Yates tells The Boot. "I wrote this truth for my 'glass half empty' days to focus on what I have and not what I lack."

In "Already Yours," Yates sings, "If you're feeling down and you're all alone / Then I've got a hand you can hold / Put your hand in mine, let me walk you through / There ain't nothing that I wouldn't do." The chorus is equally uplifting: "Don't you even think, just call / You ain't gotta ask at all / If you want my love, it's already yours / You ain't gotta beg or plead / Honey, you just come to me / If you want my love, it's already yours."

The Other Side is set for release on May 20, combining the influences of soul, country, roots and rock. It's collaborative in spirit and features Mckenzie Smith (producer) and Joey McLellan from the band Midlake, as well as Hank Early from the Turnpike Troubadours. The album compiles songs about overcoming struggles and offers listeners understanding and hope, victory and triumph. Yates, along with her multi-instrumentalist husband Will Yates, began recording The Other Side in January in Denton, Texas, at Redwood Studios. It is available for pre-order on iTunes.

Yates is the 2014 winner of the Texaco Country Showdown. Previous winners include LeAnn RimesJason AldeanBrad Paisley and Miranda Lambert. For information on her upcoming shows, visit Yates' official website.
