We'll be saying goodbye to daylight saving time this weekend and as we do that, we'll be gaining an extra hour of sleep! The time officially changes at 2 a.m. Sunday, however, most people will adjust their clocks either when they go to bed Saturday night or right after they wake Sunday morning. Still there are those that haven't been able to figure out how to change their clock in their car, so they'll be back on time now!

Come Monday morning, we'll be seeing the sun rise earlier and setting quite a bit sooner than our bodies are accustomed to. The idea behind the time shift is to conserve energy, but studies have shown it's only cut our consumption of energy down a half of a percent.

Interestingly, approximately 80 countries around the globe observe daylight saving time along with the U.S. but most of them switched a couple of weeks ago. Countries around the U.S., like Canada, Cuba and a couple others follow the U.S. standard (which was set by Congress back in 2005) which has us changing our clocks this weekend. There are countries that don't observe this time shift and actually have one time zone for the entire country, China for instance, has only one time zone and it's roughly the same size as the U.S. There are those that are trying to push the U.S. in eliminating two of our time zones to have two standard zones for the nation.
