Downtown Marshall Will Be Lit Up With More Than A Million Lights For The Holidays
It’s a holiday tradition that has been happening for more than a quarter of a century in downtown Marshall and the switch will be thrown that will light up more than a million lights at the Wonderland of Lights Festival on Wednesday of next week.
The festival is filled with lights and features horse drawn carriage rides, an ice skating rink, kids play area, special nightly and weekly performances along with a 5k run this year.
Wonderland of Lights Festival officially opens Wednesday the 21st with a performance from the Marshall Symphony Orchestra at 5:30p followed by the new Washington Square Variety show at 7p. The variety show is a nightly show in front of the Harrison County courthouse and is filled with local talent and special artists and lasts nearly an hour each night.
While the lights are the biggest attraction, other things you can take part in is the City of Marshall Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 1st at 5:30p and a 5K run on Tuesday, December 4th at 6p.
The main attraction though at the Wonderland Of Lights Festival is the Harrison County Courthouse building with more than 150-thousand LED lights alone! Visitors will be treated to a light and music show that begins at 6p and the entire downtown area has more than a million lights with over 400 lighted Christmas displays. While checking out all of the lights, visitors can also do some holiday shopping along the Street of Dreams that features pulsating colored lights and skate on the areas only outdoor ice rink.
