This week’s Downtown Tyler Film Festival marks the sixth year the art and industry of independent filmmaking has taken center stage at Liberty Hall in Downtown Tyler.

“Our film festival had very humble beginnings and has grown into an international event, attracting films from Tyler, throughout Texas, across the U.S. and around the world,” said Beverly Abell, City of Tyler Main Street department leader.

Different categories of film will be shown each night Wednesday through Friday. On Saturday, top-scoring films will be screened again during a “Best of the Fest” showing. Winners of four different categories will be announced on Saturday, Sept. 24.

The Festival nights are as follows:
Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m.: “Where In The World,” featuring films from the United States and around the world.
Thursday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.: “Elsewhere, TX” will focus on submissions from around the state beyond East Texas.
Friday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m.: “Homebrewed” will showcase submissions from East Texas filmmakers.
Saturday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.: “The Best of the Fest.”

There will be a question and answer session each night with the filmmakers in attendance.

Saturday’s “Best of the Fest” celebration will include the pre-screening Stella Artois reception, the screenings of the best films from the previous nights, an awards presentation and a post-screening party at Gallery Main Street.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. each night, with a pre-screening reception sponsored by Stella Artois. Tickets are $5 each night for Wednesday through Friday and $15 on Saturday and may be purchased either online at TylerFilmFest.com or at the door.

The public is invited to attend although some films may contain graphic language and content. Parental discretion is advised.
