Two people are awaiting arraignment on drug charges after they were arrested Thursday during a search at a house in Laird Hill in Rusk County.

The Rusk County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division, along with the Rusk County and Henderson Police Tactical Units executed a search warrant at the residence on County Rd. 169D and discovered and seized approximately 1 pound of suspected marijuana, 34 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 8 grams of suspected Alprazolam (Xanax), 104 suspected Hydrocodone pills and an undetermined amount of U.S. currency.

The street value of all substances totaled approximately $4,000.

Two suspects were arrested on scene, a white male, 26, and a black female, 43, both of Kilgore. The male suspect was charged with Manufacture and Delivery of Control Substance (Crack Cocaine), 2 counts of Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Dangerous Drug.

The female suspect was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance.

TxDOT continues work on Interstate 20

SMITH COUNTY -- Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to continue approximately two weeks of pavement repairs on Westbound Interstate 20 between SH 110 south of Van and Willow Branch Road near the Van Zandt County Line.

Additional repair work by a contractor is under way for the next several months on Interstate 20 between US 69 in Lindale and SH 110.

Finally this week, TxDOT maintenance crews are scheduled to perform edge work on SH 110 south of Interstate 20.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress. Motorists are encouraged to be prepared to reduce speed and merge in and around the work zone.

TxDOT continues work in Jacksonville

CHEROKEE COUNTY -- Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to perform pavement repair operations on US 79 between US 69 and Larissa Street.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes if possible to avoid delays.

VAN ZANDT COUNTY -- Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to continue base and pavement-repair operations on FM 859 south of Edgewood.

Meanwhile, construction work continues on FM 859 between FM 1395 and SH 19 near the Rains County Line.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic.

GREGG COUNTY -- Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to perform pavement repairs on FM 2963 between FM 349 and Lake Cherokee.

TxDOT continues work in Anderson County

TENNESSEE COLONY -- Texas Department of Transportation construction crews this week are scheduled to continue approximately three weeks of resurfacing work on FM 645 between US 287 north of Tennessee Colony and FM 3328 near the TDCJ Beto I Unit.

Also this week, erosion control work is scheduled to continue on SE Loop 256 near FM 322.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic.

RUSK COUNTY -- Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to begin resurfacing operations on FM 2496 between US 259 north of Mount Enterprise and FM 1798 east of Laneville.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers and pilot vehicles will control traffic.

WOOD COUNTY -- Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to continue resurfacing work on FM 17 between SH 182 and FM 515, and on SH 110 north of Van.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic.

TxDOT plans work on SH 19 south of Athens HENDERSON COUNTY -- Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to perform edge repairs on SH 19 between Athens and the Anderson County Line.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic in two-lane areas.
