[UPDATE 8:50 P.M.] "Duck Dynasty" star and Duck Commander CEO Phil Robertson has been suspended indefinitely from the show by A&E after comments he made regarding homosexuality to GQ Magazine.

Variety reported the news after A&E released a statement, which reads:

"We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty."

Here is the original story:

They're comments that shouldn't surprise anyone who has ever watched "Duck Dynasty," but Duck Commander CEO Phil Robertson has taken over the media circles after comments he made to GQ Magazine regarding homosexuality were made public.

Robertson, whose conservative Christian stance is well-known and often celebrated along with his family in A&E's hit TV show, sounded off to the magazine in a very candid interview about his views on the state of people and our country today.

“Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong. Sin becomes fine. Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” he told the magazine. “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

He also got especially candid about his personal views on sexuality.

“It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus," he said. "That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

After the initial backlash, A&E sent a statement to Fox News from Robertson regarding his comments:

“I myself am a product of the 60s; I centered my life around sex, drugs and rock and roll until I hit rock bottom and accepted Jesus as my Savior. My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together. However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.”

Time will only tell if the ratings for "Duck Dynasty" will suffer, although they can't be expected to drop dramatically since most of the show's viewers share the same religious and political beliefs as the Robertson family. More than 11.7 million people tuned to watch the Season 4 premiere on Aug. 14.

Robertson also told the magazine his family has lost all sense of privacy since the show aired. He also was candid in his belief that he and his family's stardom will be short-lived.

“Let’s face it, three, four, five years, we’re out of here. You know what I’m saying? It’s a TV show. This thing ain’t gonna last forever. No way," he said.
