Winter 2018-2019 arrived last Friday and so far it's been pretty mild, but an approaching cold front looks to change all that overnight tonight.

A cold front will be moving in to East Texas late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning that could trigger some strong to severe thunderstorms throughout the area.

Thanks to the humid atmosphere over the past couple of days, the Storm Prediction Center has placed pretty much all of East Texas under a slight risk for storms to break out along a cold front that will be moving through the area. The greatest risk from these isolated storms looks to be high wind along with some areas of hail, but the chance of a tornado can't be ruled out.

Mark Scirto, KLTV 7 Chief Meteorologist, says the storms could be in East Texas around midnight tonight, but should move through pretty quickly and be out of the area by 9 a.m. on Thursday if the cold front keeps marching eastward on its current pace.

The cooler air will arrive Friday as temperatures will struggle to stay in the 40's.
