East Texas Man Wanted After Fleeing the Scene of a Fatal Crash

East Texas Law officers continue their search for a man who fled the scene of a fatal accident yesterday evening in Smith County.

Authorities believe Justin Echols, who is in his mid-thirties, left his passenger for dead after he struck a tree on County Rd. 217 just North of Overton.

DPS says the female passenger was ejected from the truck and pinned underneath before Echols left the scene on foot, and then hopped on an ATV traveling in an unknown direction.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
