Justin Lee Echols, 30, who left his passenger pinned under his truck, has turned himself in to Upshur County authorities.

The Diana man is jailed and charged in connection with his passenger’s death, 27-year-old Michelle Allen of Harleton.

DPS says Allen was ejected from Echols' vehicle when he struck a tree on County Road 217  just north of Overton. She was pinned underneath the truck before Echols fled the scene on an ATV that he was hauling on a trailer.

Allen was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Human Remains Found on East Texas Property

Anderson County Sheriff Investigators say an autopsy has been ordered on human remains found on some rural East Texas property.

Authorities say the owners of the land near Palestine discovered the remains late Sunday.

Chief Deputy Troy Black said Monday that Texas Rangers have been summoned to help with the investigation. Black says the remains are so decomposed that authorities could not immediately identify the person's race, sex or age.

Further details haven't been released.

 

Tyler Police Seeking Woman Impersonating a Police Officer

Tyler Police are investigating at least two cases in which a woman flashed a badge, lied about being an officer and robbed someone.

Both victims told officers the suspect was not wearing a uniform.

Police say the latest incident happened Sunday night at a car wash. A woman showed a badge and demanded to search a man's car. The woman stole his wallet and cellphone from the vehicle.

The first robbery happened Oct. 7. Grocery store surveillance video shows a woman in shorts and a shirt making a purchase.
