East Texas native Patrick Mahomes is having a stellar year in the NFL as the 2nd year quarterback is a finalist for the FedEx Air Player of the Year.

According to CBS 19, voting has started Friday (January 4th) as fans cast their vote on the quarterback they feel had the best air assault during the regular NFL season.

With other notable quarterbacks like Drew Brees, and Phillip Rivers in the running for the top spot, the former Whitehouse quarterback put up outstanding numbers:

  • 50 Touchdown passes (Joining Peyton Manning and Tom Brady with the most TD passes in a single NFL season)
  • Ranked 2nd in the NFL with a franchise record 5,097 passing yards and the seventh different player in the NFL with 5,000+ passing yards in a season
  • A 2019 Pro Bowl selection and led the Chiefs to a 12-4 record with the top seed in the AFC.
  • He was also 7 touchdowns shy of having ketchup for life from Heinz
