With the year winding down, Eric Church has a long list ready for when it’s his turn to share what he’s most thankful for at the dinner table this Thanksgiving. At the very top of that list is the fact that this is his first holiday with his brand new baby boy, Boone McCoy, who was born in October.

“It being our first Thanksgiving with him, I am just very thankful that we have a healthy little baby boy … mama’s healthy [and] baby’s healthy,” Church tells Taste of Country. “I have a lot to be thankful for [with] my career, too. I’ve had an incredible year. I’m very thankful for all those things,” which include his latest album, ‘Chief,’ debuting at No. 1 on both the country albums chart and Top 200 all-genre chart.

Just a couple months ago, that same album was certified gold for sales exceeding 500,000 copies. The latest release from the album is the red hot ‘Drink in My Hand,’ which is just outside the Top 10 on the country singles chart. But career aside, family is what takes center stage this year.

“It’s just about having a baby and having a real [family] for the first time,” Church says. “Even though Katherine and I have been married for a few years, this is the first time we’ve had a real family for Thanksgiving and Christmas time in my household. It’s just going to be fun to start some real traditions on our own. It’s always been our parents’ traditions, which we can now put toward what we are going to do.”
