The East Texas Epilepsy Family Conference will be held on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus. The purpose of this daylong conference is to generate awareness of the Epilepsy Foundation in the East Texas area to parents of children and youth living with epilepsy and parents of transitioning young adults living with epilepsy.

Topics of discussion include the Epilepsy series on creating a “New Normal” with family and friends, Managing Epilepsy at School, and information on Medication and Seizures.

Title V will be providing valuable information on the rights of children with a disability according to Texas Disability for Children.

Parent to Parent will discuss “Who is Parent to Parent” and how they can help you. They will also provide a tutorial on how to implement a ‘Care Notebook’ as a method to organize medical information throughout the life of your child and on into adulthood. There will also be presentations about Transition Education, as well as, the Get FIT Texas program.

Mike Simmel "Mighty Mike," a motivational speaker and basketball trick superstar who had epilepsy as a child, will be in attendance to entertain the youth and motivate through basketball.
