Eric Church, Carrie Underwood + More Set for First-Ever iHeartRadio Country Festival
That's right, country music is breaking off of the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas following an overwhelmingly positive response to the country performers. For the past few years, the young multi-genre event has attracted music fans from all over the U.S. and around the world, but the resounding message has been that fans wanted more country -- and country is what they're getting.
The event will come together on March 29, 2014 in Austin. Joining performers Underwood and Church are more of country's biggest names, including Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia Line, Lady Antebellum, Jake Owen, Hunter Hayes and newcomers Dan + Shay.
"The response to our country performers at the last three iHeartRadio Music Festivals was so incredible we decided to create an entire show just for them," John Sykes, President of Clear Channel Entertainment Enterprises, explains. "It will be a country fan's dream and a testament to the power of country music and recognition of the stature of these artists."
Underwood too shared her thoughts on how fun the 2014 iHeartRadio Country Festival will be for fans and artists alike, saying, "It's going to be a big party for all of us."
"I've been lucky enough in my life to go to lots of different other genre concerts as a fan, and I think I would rather be in a country crowd than any other crowd, just because they're fun, they're singing along, they're dancing, everybody's cool to one another," she adds.
Radio deejay Bobby Bones will host the inaugural iHeartRadio Country Festival, which will also broadcast live on Clear Channel stations around the country. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Jan. 18, at 12PM ET.
The event piggybacks Austin's annual South by Southwest music conference and festival.
