Flu Shot Season
As the weather is getting cooler and East Texas transitions from summer to something like fall, it's the perfect time to make sure that you and your family get flu shots.
If you managed to make it through the first wave of colds and the flu this year, I want to congratulate you. This year's first wave seemed to be a lot stronger than that of previous years and I personally wish that I had thought to get my flu shot early this year.
While doctors recommend the flu shot for everyone, there are groups of people who are at higher risk of contracting the flu than others. If you or a family member falls into one of the following categories, it is strongly recommended to get a flu shot - pregnant women, children under age 5, adults over age 65, people with asthma, chronic lung disease or diabetes, and health care givers.
If you and your family still haven't gotten your flu shots, it's not too late! Check with your doctor's office to see about getting a shot or go to any flu shot retailer pharmacy (Target, Walgreens, CVS, etc.). And don't forget to take any precautions you can against the flu this year!
