Country music superstar George Strait, aptly nicknamed 'The King,' announced the final dates and cities on his farewell tour -- 'The Cowboy Rides Away Tour' -- at AT&T Stadium in Arlington this morning.

The final tour of Strait's historic career will consist of 26 shows -- 23 in arenas and three stadiums. Each week will consist of a different opening act, including names such as Eric Church, Jason Aldean, Merle Haggard, Miranda Lambert and more.

"It's sinking in a little more and more every day," Strait said of facing the reality that this is his last tour. "It's going to be tough to say bye to some of those places next year."

The tour will start Jan. 9 at CenturyLink Center in Bossier City, La., and will close on a date to be determined at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, the place Strait opened to a sellout crowd in 2009.
