In this week's episode of 'Glee,' the musical dramedy will pay tribute to one of its cast members, Cory Monteith, who passed away in July after battling addiction issues.

Naya Rivera, who plays Santana on the series, will memorialize the late star by singing a heartfelt version of the Band Perry's breakthrough hit, the heart-wrenching ballad 'If I Die Young.'

It's a fitting song in both mood and in lyrics, as Monteith was just 32 when he passed, and his character Finn Hudson had only recently graduated. 'If I Die Young' will be featured in the Thursday, Oct. 10 episode titled 'The Quarterback, 'in which the 'Glee' cast says goodbye to the character and their castmate. Lots of tears are expected to be shed.

Written by newly-engaged frontwoman Kimberly Perry, the song that appears on the band's self-titled debut resonates on so many levels. It's such an important tune for the band, since it established the trio as one of the frontrunners of the modern country genre.

To have it used in a critical episode in a major TV hit certainly reflects the watershed nature of the track.
