Two non-profit organizations are teaming up to make Smith County a better place. Goodwill Industries in East Texas is giving a very gracious percentage of their sales this upcoming Tax Free Weekend-August 19-21- to the Tyler ISD Foundation. More after the jump.

Two Goodwill stores in Tyler, the one on Locust Street and the main location on Loop 323, will come together and donate 15% of their sales this busy shopping weekend to Tyler ISD. Based on the 2010 results, the donation could be about $5000. Larry Godden, executive director of the TISD foundation says,

“We are excited to be named the recipient of the benevolence of Goodwill Industries of East Texas. We hope that we can encourage donations of back to school uniforms, boys and girls clothes, backpacks and other donated items will be the top priority of Tyler citizens now until the Tax Free Weekend."

Goodwill is encouraging people to go clean out their closets and donate them, so that children wont be without school clothes this year. For more information on this story and what items are needed most, as well as where you can drop off donations click here.
