Who knew a fun and uniting community project would be this simple! I was perusing reddit - because yes, I'm a  millennial (barely!) and I found something pretty awesome in the 'mildly interesting' subreddit. It had to do with Tyler, Texas and I was kind of blown away by the 470 comments on this photo.

There is a group comprised of almost 3,000 members called Tyler, Texas Rocks. Have you heard of it? It's not a band, but a group of Tylerites who spread joy throughout the community with a simple idea - paint a rock, leave a nice note and share it on Facebook when you find one.

The important thing is that the love and joy doesn't stop at you when you find the rock - it's now your turn.

In their description they ask people who find the rocks to either keep it and replace it with one of your own design, or to simply re-hide it to brighten up the day for another Tyler community member. The important thing is that the love and joy doesn't stop at you when you find the rock - it's now your turn.

This is  a growing community in Tyler and all are welcome to join the fun. Consider the fun your kids will have painting rocks and hiding them throughout the city of Tyler. Then, if someone finds it they'll see it on Facebook. It's a simple and creative way to keep us connected in a world of smartphones, tablets and laptops.

Join in the fun! My kids and I just hid 13 rocks around town... Chuck E Cheese, Toys R Us, Dance N Drill, Rose Rudman Park and Fresh. All rocks were hidden outside. If you find one, Please post here. Use the hashtag #tylertexasrocks and post a photo of the person who found the rock with the rock you found. It's fun to see your own rock here! Keep or rehide and paint more rocks to hide around Tyler. 😉

Share this group and add everyone ages 2-102.

So this summer go rock hunting and share your treasures!
