KLTV 7 Meteorologist Grant Dade is reporting on a chance for severe weather in East Texas tonight and tomorrow (Jan. 8-9). The threats include heavy rain, gusty winds and even the chance for an isolated tornado.

Flash flood watches have already been posted for parts of East Texas in anticipation of the heavy rain. The remainder of East Texas is expected to be added to that watch later today. A good portion of East Texas could see 2 to 4 inches of rainfall with some areas receiving 5 inches or more. This amount of rain will likely cause flash flooding in some areas, so be alert to driving conditions.

Deep East Texas is at the greatest threat for severe thunderstorms. The area south of the warm front will be at the greatest threat of seeing the gusty winds and tornado threat, however at this time the tornado threat is fairly low.
