It’s that time of year when movie theaters and restaurants are deserted on Friday nights, because everyone flocks to high school football games. Football in Texas is king, and with the new season upon us, hopes are high that our teams are going to impress and win.

What are the expectations this year for East Texas teams?

ETSN.fm says the John Tyler Lions are picked to finish first in District 16-4A. The team finished 11-4 last year and will bring back a lot of experience, and that should bode well for the Lions. Corsicana, Jacksonville, Whitehouse, Lindale, and Nacogdoches are predicted to round out the division in that order.

The Longview Lobos should win District 12-5A, according to ETSN.fm. Longview was 11-2 last year and looks for even more success this year. Tyler Lee is picked to finish 5th in the district, ahead of North Mesquite and Rockwall. Last year wasn’t a great one for Lee with a 1-9 record. That’s what new seasons are for!

Good luck to all the East Texas teams. And stay tuned for updates from our partners over at ETSN.fm. We can’t wait for the Friday Night Lights!
