You've said 'yes' to your man, but how quickly do you need to say 'yes' to the dress?

After saying yes to my boyfriend of almost five years, I'm discovering that wedding planning is tricky process. I don't have an extravagant budget, and we want to get married soon after the new year... so I'm in full-on wedding planning mode.

I've learned very quickly that it's important to get some things done early. I was asked to participate in the bridal fashion portion of the up coming Wedding Extravaganza, and while I was at a fitting last night the ladies there said I need to get a move on.

I was surprised to learn that it can take up to 20 weeks, or five months, to order a dress. That's not to say it's impossible to find one off the rack, but if you decide to order a dress, you may need more time than you thought.

I was surprised. I thought I could probably pull it off in 6-8 weeks, nope. The experts scheduled me for this Friday! If you're newly engaged and thinking you have plenty of time. Be prepared. I did just a quick google search for when to buy your dress, and TheKnot.com, says 8 months out. I do not have that luxury, but if you do it's not a bad idea.

We'll see how the first trip goes on Friday, next up... finding a venue and selecting a date, yikes!
