Poets and artists will be buzzing along the historic brick streets of Downtown Tyler this weekend during the opening of 'Illustrated Poetry' 5:30-8:30 pm, Saturday at Gallery Main Street, 110 E. Erwin.

“We look forward to all of our exhibit openings,” said Beverly Abell of the City of Tyler Main Street Department. “This one will be extra-special with the addition of live music as well as spoken word performances by local poet Stephen Boothe.”

The opening activities surrounding the juried exhibit which contains more than three dozen pieces of artwork, is also an opportunity to meet the artists and take in a spoken word performance by local poet Stephen Boothe.

“The exhibit opening is a great way to start a full evening of entertainment in Downtown Tyler,” Abell said. “Visitors can come to the gallery early in the evening, then go to one of several downtown spots for dinner. Furthermore, Liberty Hall is hosting a special concert by Ruthie Foster at 8 p.m.”
