In my prediction section of my week 13 picks yesterday, I said this about last night's game:

...I still think the Saints will win 27-17. But don't be surprised if the Cowboys pull off a win by a field goal.

And yet, I am surprised.

Look, I am a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Have been for as long as I can remember. But I'm not delusional. I know how great the Saints have been playing this year. I fully expected the Saints offense to score some touchdowns and their defense to hold down Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot.

Instead we got a Dallas defense, that has been playing pretty good this season, that completely embarrassed the Saints offense. (From ESPN) 176 total yards of offense for the Saints when they average about 350 per game. 10 points when they average around 35 per game.

The Cowboys defense had Drew Brees confused the entire night. It's like the Saints watched zero film on the Cowboys defense and game planned that the Cowboys would play touch football.

Things got sloppy in the third quarter with Randy Gregory and his stupid penalties and Dak had a couple of fumbles in the second half. Gregory has got to go, I have never been a fan of his. Dak has got to work on his pocket presence to reduce those fumbles.

I'm just glad I was wrong and the Cowboys won. Will they go to the Superbowl? Very, very, very unlikely. Are the Saints still a great team? Yes. What a great game Thursday night.

Additional Thoughts:

Jerry Jones better pay DeMarcus Lawrence instead of franchise tagging him again. He is a great defensive lineman. Jaylon Smith and Leighton Vander Esch should get paid, too, when it's time. They are the best linebacker duo in the NFL.
